VACANCY FOR ADJUNCT LECTURER TO TEACH LEGAL ISSUES IN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
The Department of Global and Transcultural Studies at Meiji Gakuin University´s Yokohama campus is seeking an adjunct lecturer to teach the course "Legal Issues in International Relations" at GTS. This is an upper-division course and involves teaching one 90-minute class a week, in English, to a mixed class of Meiji Gakuin and overseas exchange students. The spring semester goes from April 1 to the end of July, and fall semester goes from the third week of September to the end of January 2025. The semester, day and timeslot of the class is negotiable within the constraints of the overall timetable. This appointment is initially for one semester only, but there may be a possibility of
renewal in AY2025.
As per the title, this class examines ways in which international legal principles, instruments, and structures are used to resolve issues that arise primarily between nationstates but can also involve non-state actors. Please note that as well as numerous Japanese students, our department also has students from China (including some from Hong Kong),
South Korea, and Taiwan, and we have many American and European exchange students. This should give the successful candidate exciting opportunities to make use varying student backgrounds in discussions of the courseʼs contents.
