Invitation to Participate in the 2024 International Conference on Human Rights: Youth in Asia

Dear SSJ Members,

Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP) Tokyo is pleased to announce our second annual International Conference on Human Rights: Youth in Asia (ICHR) and excited to invite submissions. The conference is free of charge to all presenters and participants. We would be grateful if you could distribute the notice below to your networks.

ICHR is co-convened by YPFP Tokyo, the Graduate Program on Human Security and the Research Center for Sustainable Peace at the University of Tokyo, to be held in Tokyo, Japan, in hybrid format in 25-26 March 2024.

The conference aims to provide an opportunity for emerging scholars and practitioners in the field of Human Rights to share their research, engage with peers, experts, and leaders through our international, intergenerational, and inclusive programming and to learn about the challenges facing the realm of Human Rights in Asia and the world.

Announcing the 2024 International Conference on Human Rights: Youth in Asia (ICHR)

 

Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP) Tokyo is delighted to announce our second human rights conference in Japan, the 2024 International Conference on Human Rights: Youth in Asia (ICHR), which is co-convened with the Graduate Program on Human Security and the Research Center for Sustainable Peace at the University of Tokyo. In order to sustain and enhance human rights development in East Asia and beyond, it is essential to involve Japanese youth in the agenda.

The ICHR positions Japan as a nexus for students and young scholars to express their ideas, exchange thoughts, and participate in the progressive development of the international human rights agenda. To this end, we invite academic submissions related to one or more of the following conference subthemes:

  1. International Humanitarian Perspectives 
  1. Climate Change and Humanitarian Action 
  2. Gender and Conflict 
  3. State Intervention and the Responsibility to Protect  
  4. Business and Human Rights
  1. Democratic Backsliding 
  1. Censorship and the Right to Express
  2. Cyberthreats 
  3. Polarization and State Repression 
  4. Immigration and the Sustainability of Multiethnic Democracies

We are particularly proud to encourage submissions from Japanese youth and in the Japanese language!

You may also review our Concept Note here: English version, Japanese version.. Please carefully review the submission guidelines before submitting your application. Abstracts will be assessed in a double-blind review process on a rolling basis. The deadline for submission is 20 February 2024. We look forward to receiving your applications!
