/Japan Review <https://publications.nichibun.ac.jp/pc1/en/announce/jr/>/is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal for the study of Japan, published by the International Research Center for Japanese Studies in Kyoto (Nichibunken <https://www.nichibun.ac.jp/pc1/en/>). In October 2021, Ted Boyle <https://newsletter.nichibun.ac.jp/en/messages/1033/> took over the editorship from John Breen.

/Japan Review/ solicits outstanding manuscripts relating to all aspects of Japan, past and present. Showcasing diverse theoretical and analytical perspectives, it is open to submissions from across the humanities and social sciences. Subjects, methods and approaches of particular significance to the field may be examined as Special Issues of the journal or as Special Sections within it, please contact the editor for details.

Articles submitted to /Japan Review/ are subject to double-blind peer review by at least two external referees. The journal also publishes shorter research notes, review articles, and annotated translations of important texts, as well as a generous assortment of book reviews with every issue.All issues of the journal are available fully Open Access, and in a handsome print format.
