In 2014, Prime Minister Abe convened a committee to lay out future visions of Japan in light of a fast ageing and shrinking society. In 2020, this
committee was hastily reconvened to incorporate into its vision the various aspects in which COVID-19 is rapidly reshaping peoples'
attitudes about all aspects of life, including work and family, workstyles, productivity and industrial sector change. The purpose was
to make sure that Japan will not miss this critical opportunity to realize real reform. The report, version 2.0, is now out, and the chair
of the committee will share with us what it entails, and what the government, business, and society can do to realize it.

Guest Speaker:
Yuri Okina is chairperson of the Japan Research Institute. She has served as a member of many different government committees, including the
Financial System Council and Fiscal System Council, and has published extensively on Japan's financial system and social welfare. Since March
2020, she has chaired the Cabinet Office Committee on "Choosing the Future 2.0". She holds a doctorate in Economics from Kyoto University,
and an MBA from Keio University where she has also served as Visiting Professor.

Moderator:
Ulrike Schaede is Professor of Japanese Business at GPS, UC San Diego, and the Director of JFIT. Her research
focuses on Japan's changing corporate strategies, including business culture, change management, and business organization. Her 2020 book
"The Business Reinvention of Japan" analyzes how Japanese companies are responding to the rise of China and the changing global competition.

We hope to see you there!

Coming up the following Wednesday (JST):
