Greetings Everyone,

I would like to share the Evite below for a free webinar I am hosting on May 13 in the US and May 14 in Japan . It will be a discussion of community efforts to address homelessness amid the Covid-19/systemic inequality syndemic in Japan and the US. Special attention will be paid to the role of "service hub" neighborhoods where homelessness, supportive housing and services, as well as social movement organizations cluster.

It is a unique opportunity for researchers, activists, and students to hear a US-Japan dialogue among leaders of community organizations about these issues. Please share widely.

Leaders of community organizations in Miami, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Osaka will discuss their efforts to fight homelessness throughout the ongoing syndemic--the interaction of the Covid-19 pandemic and systemic inequality. Speakers will discuss how their organizations have worked to protect vulnerable persons as well as expand equitable access to housing, health care, and other community resources. Special attention will be paid to the role of service hubs, which are central urban neighborhoods where subsidized housing, supportive social services, and social movements addressing homelessness cluster. We will discuss how these places can serve as "refuge neighborhoods" promoting survival and liberation.
This webinar is part of the US-Japan Service Hub Network project funded by the Japan Foundation/Center for Global Partnership.
