Reminder: EAJS Japan Conference at Tohoku University, submission of proposals.

this is a quick reminder that the submission period for proposals (panels and single papers) for the EAJS Japan Conference at Tohoku University ends this Friday, 31 January.

Dear members of the SSJ-Forum,
 
the Fourth EAJS Japan Conference will take place at Tohoku University, Sendai, on 20-21 September 2025.
 
Like the EAJS International Conferences, the Japan Conference offers a forum for scholarly presentations and discussions in all fields of research that are Japan-related and is open to researchers in all stages of their career, from PhD students to established scholars.
 
We cordially invite you to submit proposals for panels and single papers for the following sections:
 
A: Anthropology / Sociology / Urban and Environmental Studies
B: Visual and Performing Arts / Film and Media Studies
C: History
D: Language, Linguistics, Translating and Teaching
E: Literature
F: Politics, International Relations / Economics / Law
G: Religion and Philosophy
H: Other Disciplines / Interdisciplinary Panels
 
The deadline for the submission of proposals is 31. January 2025. Notification of acceptance is scheduled for 1 April 2025.

Please note:
- Sessions are scheduled to last 90 minutes.
- The presentation languages are English and Japanese. However, in either case please provide slides in English.
- Single paper presentations should not exceed 20 minutes.
- Panel organisers are responsible for their own panel and can propose up to four speakers and optionally also one discussant.
- We specifically encourage younger scholars working on their dissertation or in their early postdoc phase to apply.
- EAJS membership is not mandatory at the time of your proposal. However, successful applicants, including discussants, must be fully-paid members of the EAJS at the time of the conference.
