I am pleased to announce the JIT2025 International Conference and Workshop that will take place in Tunisia. Registration is open to researchers and students and extended to those who are interested.

Descripition:
JIT2025 is an international conference and workshop focused on vernacular and underground architecture, taking place in Tunisia from March 3rd to 4th, 2025. Organized by Saga University in collaboration with ENAU and Carthage University, the event will bring together researchers and professionals from Japan, Italy, Tunisia, and beyond to discuss the preservation and revitalization of underground heritage.
The program includes a pre-conference workshop and study tour in Djerba (February 24-28, 2025), where experts involved in the UNESCO World Heritage classification of Djerba in 2023 will provide lectures and guided tours. The conference will serve as a platform to explore settlement patterns in island territories, heritage conservation strategies, and multidisciplinary approaches to built environments.
JIT2025は、「ヴァナキュラー|地下建築」をテーマとした国際会議およびワークショップで、2025年3月3日~4日にチュニジアで開催されます。本イベントは佐賀大学がENAUおよびカルタゴ大学と協力して主催し、日本、イタリア、チュニジアなどから研究者や専門家が集まり、地下遺産の保存と再生について議論します。
また、2月24日~28日にジェルバ島でプレカンファレンス・ワークショップとスタディツアーを実施し、2023年にユネスコ世界遺産に登録されたジェルバ島の専門家による講義や現地ガイドツアーが行われます。本会議では、島嶼地域の集落パターン、遺産保存戦略、学際的アプローチなど、多角的な視点から建築遺産を考察する場となります。

Location: Tunisia.
Participation: Free.
Support: The round trip Tunis-Djerba (by bus) and the accommodation in Djerba are provided and fully covered by Carthage University.
Other expenses: Self-funded.
Deadline for registration: February 15, 2025

About Dr. Rami Derbel (organizer):
Dr. Rami Derbel, is an Assistant Professor at Saga University, Graduate School of Science and Engineering, specializing in architectural heritage and the application of AI in urban studies. His research focuses on the preservation and revitalization of historic built environments, particularly in Tunisia and Japan. He has organized numerous international workshops and conferences to foster interdisciplinary and cross-cultural exchanges on heritage conservation and digital technologies in architecture.
ラミ・デルベル博士は、佐賀大学理工学部の助教であり、建築遺産および都市研究におけるAIの活用を専門としています。研究テーマは、チュニジアと日本における歴史的建築環境の保存と再生です。建築遺産の保全やデジタル技術の活用に関する国際的なワークショップや会議を多数企画し、学際的かつ異文化間の交流を促進しています。
