Japan Zoominar @ UC San Diego: "Japan's New Prime Minister: What to Expect in the Upcoming Election" with Ko Maeda
Wed, Oct. 9, 8:00-9:00 am JST (Tue, Oct. 8, 4:00-5:00 pm Pacific)
On Sept. 27, Japan's Liberal Democratic Party elected Shigeru Ishiba as the successor to outgoing Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Only a few days earlier, the largest opposition party, the Constitutional Democratic Party, had elected Yoshihiko Noda, former PM, as its own leader. Join Ko Maeda and Ulrike Schaede as they discuss the two new political leaders and how they will position their parties for the upcoming general election. Will the opposition have a chance this time? How will U.S.-Japan relations look under a new president and new prime minister?
