"Modern Amateur Astrophotography; Equipment & Imaging Considerations", presented by Dr.  Paul E. Cizdziel

Recent advances in digital sensor systems and other tech in the last decade have enabled unprecedented capabilities for imaging of the night skies.   The range of options for astrophotography includes any camera with a digital sensor.  However, telescopes and dedicated deep-sky imaging equipment have boomed in popularity in the last decade.   The know-how, state-of-the-art tools and key considerations for photographing nebulae, galaxies, comets, planets, supernovae and other celestial objects will be discussed.  Of course, examples taken in-and-around the Tokyo area will be shared.  What is possible to image, even under the light pollution dome of major cities, will certainly surprise you!

 

Dr. Cizdziel`s educational credentials and professional career was focused on international marketing & business development in the biotechnology industry.  After employment with Life Technologies, Millipore, REPROCELL, the RIKEN Institute and Yokogawa, he retired in 2023.  Currently, he is an Advisor for the Laurus International School of Science (Tokyo).  Dr. Cizdziel began his Astrophotography hobby in 2020, and is all self-taught.  His Instagram and YouTube channel (Astrophotography Japan) has nearly 1,500 international subscribers.
