The Department belongs to the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) that houses both disciplinary and area studies departments. The Japanese Studies Department is supported by a comprehensive Japanese language programme in the university's Centre for Language Studies. Courses offered by the Department are open to and attract students from other faculties across NUS.
