My name is Lisa Takagi. I am the Japan Outreach Coordinator in the Office of Communications at United Nations University (UNU) Headquarters in Tokyo.

UNU will be hosting two conversation series events next week. One on 3^rdOctober (Monday) and 4^th October (Tuesday). We would like to cordially invite you to all three events. We also would very grateful if you could disseminate this information among your students, faculty, colleagues, and the universities about these events.

1. 1.On 3 October 2022, UNU will host "The Global Digital Compact: Towards an Open, Free, and Secure Digital Future for All", a conversation with Amandeep Singh Gill, the UN Secretary-General's Envoy on Technology. Mr Gill will join UNU Executive Officer Sabine Becker-Thierry to discuss trends around digital technology at the United Nations and the roadmap for the Global Digital Compact. The conversation will explore opportunities to enhance digital cooperation with the Government of Japan, and Japanese companies and researchers, to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

2. 2.On 4 October, UNU will host "The Triple Planetary Crisis: From Issues to Action", a conversation with Inger Andersen, Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme. Ms Andersen will join UNU Rector David Malone to discuss the triple planetary crisis (climate change, nature and biodiversity loss, and pollution and waste), its most critical issues, and its impacts in Japan. The conversation will highlight the promising policy mechanisms and solutions taking shape to confront the crisis at international, regional, and national levels.
