Place: Kyoto Sangyo University Musubiwasa Facility (near Kyoto Station)


出る釘は打たれる (The nail that sticks out gets hammered down). To what extent is this proverb
still relevant in today's Japanese society? The purpose of this one-day conference is to put
difference on display; to share stories and increase visibility of the joys, pitfalls, advantages, and
challenges of being different in Japan. We invite speakers to share their experiences, advice,
hardships and successes with the goal of raising awareness of the diversity amongst us.
