Job openings: Japanese Instructors (multiple positions)

CIEE: The Council on International Educational Exchange is currently seeking instructors to teach Japanese Language course(s) for our COLLEGE and HIGH SCHOOL summer programs in 2019. Multiple positions are available for the following programs. It may be possible to teach multiple classes.

COLLEGE: SUMMER JAPANESE STUDIES

• Tokyo Summer Japanese Studies
• Dates and times: July 3 to August 9 (6 weeks). Instructor(s) teach 45 US contact hours (3 US credits) on weekdays during this period.
• Location: Tokyo
• Levels: Beginning and Intermediate
• Students are from US colleges and universities

HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER ABROAD

• Session 1 dates: June 10 to July 7 (4 weeks)
• Session 2 dates: July 8 to August 4 (4 weeks)
• Location: Tokyo (National Olympics Memorial Youth Center)
• Positions available: "Lead Instructor of Japanese" and "Japanese Instructors"
  • The Lead Instructor (LI) is trained on the CIEE curriculum from January and helps adapt it for Japanese language. Training includes a trip to Madrid, Spain in March for in-person training with other Lead Instructors of other languages. The LI trains the other Japanese Instructors and teaches during both sessions.
  • Japanese Instructors may teach one or both sessions.
• Levels: Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced.
• Class time: Monday through Friday and some Saturdays, approx.180 minutes (with breaks).
• Students are from US high schools.

REQUIREMENTS:

• College degree (Masters a plus)
• At least 2 years' experience teaching Japanese to foreign students
• English communication competency (spoken and written)
