Post-Doctoral Research Fellow

We invite applications from researchers studying historical or contemporary issues in the Pacific region with a focus on Japan. Applicants should hold a completed Ph.D. degree at the time of the application. They must be fluent in Japanese and English and either have Japanese nationality or otherwise be in possession of Japanese working visa.


The position will form part of the project "Streams of Knowledge: Processes of Entanglement and Disentanglement in the Pacific Area." This is a joint project carried out in cooperation with the German Historical Institutes in Moscow and Washington, their branch offices in Vladivostok and Berkeley, and the MWS Research Group at the National University of Singapore.


The position is planned for the 3-year period of the project, from 1 March 2019 to 28 February 2022.
