The annual International Labour Symposium has discussed important topics chose n from the agenda of the International Labour Conference (ILC). This year, th e Symposium will focus on the Agenda V ? The youth employment crisis. The to pic of youth employment last featured on the Conference agenda for general dis cussion in 2005, at which time the Conference adopted a resolution concerning youth employment. While this resolution remains relevant, the Governing Body's decision to return to the subject was prompted by a renewed sense of alarm a t the unprecedented proportion that the youth employment crisis has acquired. Indeed, high levels of youth unemployment, increasing difficulties faced by yo ung persons in transition from school to work and the deteriorating quality of employment available to them are of deep concern to ILO constituents in all r egions. At the ILC, the resolution of "The Youth employment crisis: Time for
action", was adopted. At this symposium, while
introducing points and the content of the resolution, challenges being faced in Japan are also discussed .
ILO official who is specialized in this agenda is going to be invited as a keynote speaker. We look forward to an active discussion with interested part icipants.
