Nhiwatar[atx]cfia.harvard.edu (Hiwatari, Nobuhiro) commented on the "fact" nature of
articles in Japan (lots of company press releases in Nikkei) as opposed to
"background" stories. That also is my sense, but I've not tried to see whether
it's "really" true. At the same time, I think the weeklies try to complement
this. The Shukan (e.g., Toyo Keizai) are certainly longer. I still have the
impression that they rely on one source more than would be considered common
practice in the US, but they certainly are longer and more analytic. And since
everyone reads both... Do any comparative studies pick up on this, and verify /
discredit it?
