You should read the results of the recent NHK/Mansfield Center joint
(U.S./Japan) study on the news media in the U.S. (when reporting about Japan)
and that in Japan (when reporting about the U.S.). There is another study (by
the same group?) that looked at TV media as well. The results are quite
interesting and have indicated the reality of several observations you have
made.
