[SSJ: 125] RE Structural Dependence and Japan-US

Two quick questions for Prof. Kawasaki, and special thanks for drawing my attention to the IO article.

(1) About the "structural dependence" notion of Japanese Marxists, I wasn't quite sure what that refers to (again revealing my ignorance). Were you referring to some recent theoretical developments or more "traditional" notions?
Is it more an application of dependency theory to the US-Japan context? And, finally, could you give us some names and publications?

(2) I assume the key term in the structuralist perspective is "dominance-dependence," since Japan and the US (and thus US-Japan relations) are restrained by structural contexts, be it commodity trade, overseas investment, or aviation regulations. Am I right in this? Then, apart from saying that US-Japan relations are constrained by historical and global institutions (or regimes), what constitutes a "dominance-dependence" structure?

PS I would also like to thank members of the list for sending me information about reference materials, either on this list or privately. All the information was very useful and I am in the process of collecting/reading them. Again, thank you very much.
