"Indian Migrants in Japan: A Longitudinal Study of Evolving Trends, Drivers, and Experiences" presented by Megha Wadhwa of Sophia University

Wednesday January 21st at 7PM

Indian migration to Japan has grown and diversified over time, shaped by shifting economic needs, policy frameworks, and transnational connections. Taking a longitudinal approach, this study traces evolving migration trends, key drivers, and everyday experiences of Indian migrants across different periods. It examines changes in occupational patterns, settlement practices, and community formation, highlighting how migrants' aspirations and challenges have transformed alongside Japan's labor demands and immigration regimes. By following these changes over time, the study offers a nuanced understanding of continuity and change in Indian migration to Japan.
