Dear SSJ Forum List members,

Announcing a symposium at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies on 1 November 2025. The event considers the connections between music, place and travel. The keynote is by Yumi Notohara (Osaka College of Music), and there are also papers by Kyungjae Jang (Hiroshima University) and Philip Seaton (Tokyo University of Foreign Studies). Following a short performance of pieces evoking place by professional musicians Kanade Narihara and Shinichiro Hirayama, there is a roundtable discussion featuring both researcher and performer perspectives about the creation of musicscapes and musical places.

The event is all in Japanese. Attendance is free, but please register in advance via the Google form so we can assess numbers (and change room size if necessary). All details and registration at:
