Dear Colleagues,
The following conference may be of interest:
CFP: Conflict and Empire in East Asia to 1945 in Heritage, Memory, and Museums (Kyoto, 2 July 2025)
With the eightieth anniversary of Japan's surrender approaching and Japan seemingly moving towards a more active military posture, international interest is growing in Japan's public memory and treatment of its past through museums and heritage sites related to conflict and empire. Moreover, as international tension and nationalism rise across East Asia, the legacies and memory of war and empire are similarly receiving increased attention. This one-day conference will explore these issues within their broader Japanese and international contexts, and in relation to the newly renovated content of Ritsumeikan's peace museum.
2 July 2025
