Tenured faculty position - Waseda University Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies

From: LEHENY David <dleheny@waseda.jp>
Date: 2025/02/20

Dear Colleagues,

Greetings from Waseda University's Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies (GSAPS). I'm writing to let you know that GSAPS is undertaking a search for a new position -- at the tenured associate or full professor level -- for a scholar "conducting social science research centered on the Asia-Pacific region." As our call for applications indicates:
We aim to recruit a social scientist capable of conducting research and teaching in a field that combines two or more of the following keywords. We are especially eager for a scholar able to address connections to Japan in their work.
Keywords: Asia/Global History/Technology/Politics/Society
e.g.: "Global history focusing on Japan and Asia," "Technology and society in Asia"
You can find the announcement here: https://www.waseda.jp/fire/gsaps/news-en/14565
Please click in the link for application guidelines, which provides a fuller description of the position, deadlines, and so forth.
For whatever my biased opinion's worth, this is a good time to work in Japan -- exchange rate notwithstanding -- and GSAPS is one of the best research environments available here.
While I cannot provide tips or advice regarding applications, I can answer general questions about our department, the University, and the position.
I hope some of you might find this to be an interesting opportunity and will consider applying.
Best wishes,
David Leheny
