June 13 Free Lecture at Lakeland University: Friedensdorf International

From: Roger Grabowski <grabowski@japan.lakeland.edu>
Date: 2024/06/03

This lecture (in English) will be held Thursday, June 13 at 7:00 at Lakeland University in Ryogoku, Tokyo. It will also be streamed via Zoom.

Established in Germany in 1967, Friedensdorf International (ドイツ国際平和村) provides medical aid to injured and sick children from war-torn zones while also fostering peace education. Carrying out projects aimed at sustainable change in 10 countries, Friedensdorf International enhances medical care and empowers self-reliance. This lecture will introduce FI's mission of providing individual care assistance and empowering communities. Join us as we explore how peace education fosters understanding and unity among children of diverse backgrounds, creating a path to peace.

Birgit Stifter, the current director of Friedensdorf International, has been with the organization since 2000. In her entire time at FI, she has been involved in international work with the main focus on project management and coordination of international missions.

Mara Peppmüller, currently a student at LUJ, has been working for Friedensdorf International for several years as a volunteer and has experienced the work of the NGO not only in Germany but also has taken part in one of their projects in Cambodia.
