[Job Ad] Graduate Research Assistant Position

Hello everyone,
My name is Ji-Hyun Ahn, an Associate Professor at the University of Washington Tacoma (USA). I am currently working on a research project on anti-Korean sentiment and movements in East Asia. I am seeking to recruit ONE graduate research assistant for a paid position to assist with this project.
Qualifications:
- Graduate students, preferably a doctoral student in Sociology, Media/Cultural Studies, Asian Studies, or International Studies. (M.A. students in the final stages of their degree will also be considered.)
- Experience in qualitative research methods such as textual analysis, discourse analysis, and/or digital media ethnography is preferred.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Japanese
- Good oral communication skills in English or Korean
Tasks:
- Collect relevant data and literature in Japanese (including some translation works)
- Write analytical reports based on my guidance
Rates and Schedule:
- Hourly Rate: Approximately 2,000-2,500 yen, depending on the research assistant's current degree status and research experience.
- Estimated Hours: 10-15 hours per week, totaling around 80 hours from July through August 2024. This is simply a rough estimate, and I am open to adjusting the work schedule according to your availability.
