Dear All,

Join us on July 14th for an Artist's Forum presented by American architect Robert Hutchison at the International House of Japan (I-House). The forum will explore a future emergency infrastructure inspired by the power of collective memory in Tohoku. We look forward to your participation.

IHJ Artist's Forum "Memory Landscapes"

Robert Hutchison (Architect, U.S.-Japan Creative Artists Fellowship Program Fellow)

Friday, July 14, 7:00 - 8:30 pm

Language: English (with consecutive interpretation)

Admission: Free (reservations required)

Venue: International House of Japan

"Memory Landscapes" focuses on two distant regions--eastern coastal Japan, devastated by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, and rural coastal communities in the U.S.'s Pacific Northwest, which are reckoning with inevitable similar events--the project considers how lessons learned in the act of remembrance in one community can inform the process of future construction in another, with the goal of a more inclusive community infrastructure that protects lives while reconnecting communities with the Sea.
