Dear members of the SSJ-Forum,

UNU will be hosting a conversation series event next week. One on 9th November (Wednesday). We would like to cordially invite you to the event. We also would very grateful if you could disseminate this information among your students, faculty, colleagues, and the universities about these events.

We are very sorry for the short notice. Please find the information for the events below:

On 9 Novemberr, UNU will host "New Challenges for Multilateralism and Peace", a conversation with Elizabeth Spehar, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General (ASG) for Peacebuilding Support. Ms Spehar will join UNU Rector David Malone to discuss cross-cutting issues such as climate change and poverty. In response to this new challenge, how is the United Nations re-focusing efforts to strengthen multilateralism and spotlight the importance of peacebuilding - which aims at preventing the outbreak, escalation, recurrence, or continuation of conflict? And importantly, how can Japan help promote peacebuilding initiatives, especially when it becomes a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2023?
