I-House 70th Anniversary Symposium
Key Challenges Facing Japan in the International Arena
The International House of Japan will hold its 70th anniversary symposium on "Key Challenges Facing Japan in the International Arena" on Tuesday, November 8.
In the 1980s through early 2000s, the I-House supported several study groups initiated and run by young non-Japanese scholars, most of whom were Ph.D. candidates at Japanese universities, thereby helping nurture future intellectual leaders and promote Japan studies. Many of the former members are active in various fields including academia, policy-making, and diplomacy.
Commemorating its 70th anniversary, the I-House is proud to invite some of these members and engage them in candid discussion on some key challenges facing Japan in the international arena, and what roles Japan can/should play in peacebuilding and well-being of people.
The keynote speaker will be Glen S. Fukushima, Senior Fellow, Center for American Progress. Three panel discussions including "DX, Energy, and Population Issues", "A New Phase in the Relations with Neighbors -- China and Korea" and "Redefining the Role of Culture in Global Peacebuilding and Well-being" will be held. We look forward to your participation.
Date: Tuesday, November 8, 1:00-6:00 pm (JST)
Venue: Iwasaki Koyata Memorial Hall
Capacity: 100 (Free admission, reservations required)
Language: Japanese / English (with simultaneous interpretation)
