YCAPS & the Sasakawa Peace Foundation are pleased to announce the next webinar in the Community Conversations seminar series focused on the Iwakuni Community! This event will feature noted scholar Dr. Koji Murata.

Hiroshima was a symbol of Imperial Japan in the early 20th century. After August 1945, Hiroshima became a symbol of ambiguity for US-Japan relations. After former President Obama's visit and now the coming G-7 summit, Dr. Murata will discuss how Hiroshima may be poised to become a symbol of rapprochement between the two countries.

This event will be a webinar. Future Community Conversations events will be held in person so long as health and safety conditions permit.

Please use this link to join via Zoom.

Koji Murata is currently Professor of Political Science and Dean of the Faculty of Law, Doshisha University, Kyoto, Japan. Dr. Murata also studied at the George Washington University as a Fulbright student from 1991 to 1995. Prior to joining the faculty of Doshisha, Dr. Murata was Assistant and Associate Professor of American Studies, Scholl of Integrated Arts and Sciences, Hiroshima University.
