Dear SSJ Forum,

Please ignore this message if you have already received a similar one from one of my colleagues.

Dear friends,

Please find the program for a unique event coming up at the Yokohama campus of Meiji Gakuin University and online, on Sunday May 15, starting 10am.

Celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Department of Global and Transcultural Studies, we present a cast of star panelists who will attempt to predict the near future: specifically, the next ten years. Panels will cover the next decade for Japan; for peace and security in East Asia; and for the global environment and energy policy. Our star speaker, joining us by Zoom from the Yunus Centre in Dhaka, Bangladesh, is MUHAMMAD YUNUS, winner of the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize. This is designed as a highly interactive event: presentations will be just 15 minutes, with equal time for questions and discussion. This is a great chance to get into conversation with some very powerful experts.

Friends - if you are like me, you are mostly too busy dealing with the chaos of the present to think very deeply about the future. This event will be a chance to step back from the hurly-burly just for a few hours, and ask ourselves - what next?

Sincerely,

Tom Gill
Associate Dean
Department of Global and Transcultural Studies
