*Japan Zoominar @ UC San Diego: "U.S.-Japan Relations under Biden-Kishida: Entering a VUCA era?" with Takako Hikotani*

Wed, Mar 9, 9:00-10:00 am JST (Tue, Mar 8, 4:00-5:00 pm Pacific)

How will U.S.-Japan relations evolve under the leadership of Joe Biden and Fumio Kishida, as compared with the Trump-Abe years,? We will review recent trends in U.S.-Japan relations, and the tasks at hand as geopolitics have entered a heightened VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity) stage. How will the two elections in 2022 (Japan's Upper House election and US's mid-term election) affect the relationship between the two countries? Join Takako Hikotani, Professor of Political Science at Gakushuin, who will teach classes at UC San Diego's GPS this coming quarter.
