Even as many harbor doubts on Japan's economic fortunes, there are strong indicators that Japan may be embarking on a new era of economic prosperity. Due to years of reforms, societal change, business necessity, and generational turnover, Japan is on a very different trajectory -- one that will differ from other countries, and inform how we balance prosperity, sustainability and business success. Join Ken Shibusawa, descendent of Japan's famous business founder Eiichi Shibusawa (1840-1931), to learn about this new course for Japan's business and economy.

Ken Shibusawa is the founder of Shibusawa and Company, Inc., a strategic advisory firm for alternative investments, ESG/SDGs alignment and human resource development, and of Commons Asset Management, a mutual fund dedicated to deliver long term investment opportunities to Japanese households. He has extensive market experience at JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs as well as Moore Capital, a global macro hedge fund, where he was the representative managing director of the Tokyo Office. He is a director of Keizai Doyukai (Japan Association of Corporate Executives), advisor to the Office of the President, University of Tokyo, and a steering group member of UNDP SDG Impact.

Ulrike Schaede is Professor of Japanese Business at GPS, UC San Diego, and the Director of JFIT. Her 2020 book "The Business Reinvention of Japan" analyzes how Japanese companies are responding to the rise of China and the changing global competition.
