Dear all,

This week, Japan Zoominar @ UC San Diego hosts "The Many Myths about Japanese Entrepreneurship", with Robert Eberhart. Please join us for this conversation with Ulrike Schaede, here:
Wednesday, June 23rd, 2021, 8:30am-9:30am Japan Time (JST)
Tuesday, June 22nd, 2021, 4:30pm-5:30pm Pacific (PDT)

Japan is typically viewed as "behind" on entrepreneurship, startup innovation, and venture investments. In spite of two decades of uncountable initiatives to launch an innovation ecosystem, the naysayers
claim, Japan has still not built a vibrant entrepreneurial community. But is this really true? Robert Eberhart will present a set of data that challenges the perceived wisdom, and discusses what evidence we should
look at to get a true sense of the Japanese innovation scene.

Guest Speaker:
Robert N. Eberhart is the Associate Director of Research on Entrepreneurship and Society in the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University. He is also a visiting professor at Kobe University and a research associate
at Columbia University. His research interests focus on theories of institutional change and the role of institutions on new venture performance. Professor Eberhart's academic publications include topics
such as new theoretical constructs on how institutional change has complex effects on new firms and entrepreneurs.

Moderator:
Ulrike Schaede is Professor of Japanese Business at GPS, UC San Diego, and the Director of JFIT. Her research focuses on Japan's changing corporate strategies, including business culture, change management, and business
organization. Her 2020 book "The Business Reinvention of Japan" analyzes how Japanese companies are responding to the rise of China and the changing global competition.

We hope to see you there!
