M. Pekkanen is the founding co-director of the Space Policy and
Research Center (SPARC), the founding co-chair of the U.S.-Japan Space
Forum, and the Job and Gertrud Tamaki Endowed Professor at the
University of Washington. In addition to working on her book "Grand
Strategy in Outer Space: Japan in the 21st Century," she is currently
co-editing the "Oxford Handbook of Space Security."

Moderator:
Ellis
S. Krauss is a professor emeritus of Japanese politics and policymaking
at the UC San Diego School of Global Policy and Strategy. He is the
author or editor of 10 books and nearly a hundred academic articles on
Japanese politics and on U.S.-Japan Relations., most recently, co-author
of "Reluctant Warriors: Germany, Japan, and Their U.S. Alliance
Dilemma" (Brookings Institution Press, 2019).
