Workshop description: The Ile-de-France Digital University (Paris) has been operating a region-wide Faculty Development initiative since 2009 which has already organized 1,000+ sessions with 11,000+ registrations. While this initiative historically exclusively ran face-to-face programs in Active Learning training, the impact of the COVID pandemic led to a complete switch to online activities in less than 6 weeks' time. During this workshop, John Augeri, who has managed this FD program since the beginning, will cover the challenges but also the opportunities that rose from that switch. He will also discuss the feedback collected from the attendees, and beyond the online format, the redesign of the courses leading from the new needs of faculties.
Speaker bio: John Augeri is a researcher and practitioner specialized in Teaching and Learning tools and environments. In addition to managing an international comparative study of physical Learning Spaces since 2016, he has been running a region-wide Faculty Development initiative since 2009 (11.000+ registrations, 1.100 sessions organized) for the Île-de-France Digital University (Paris). John is active in Europe, North America, South East Asia and Oceania, and is involved in several international associations and workgroups (including EDUCAUSE, FLEXspace, Association for Learning Environments, HERDSA). He has been invited to Japan six times as a visiting researcher.
