The School of East Asian Studies
The School of East Asian Studies (SEAS) was established in 1963; since then we have expanded dramatically to become one of the biggest departments of its kind in Europe, based on a continuing and shared passionate belief in the importance of East Asia as the most dynamic region in the world. Teaching and research interests at SEAS are interdisciplinary and our staff are internationally-renowned specialists in East Asia.
Our Research
Our research topics are constantly responding to developments in the disciplines, as well as to the dynamic changes in the East Asia region. We are able to supervise dissertations on a wide range of topics, including politics, international relations, political economy, business, sociology, anthropology, media, culture, music, film, language, literature, and history. Please feel free to get in touch directly with any of our academic staff to discuss your potential doctoral research
