[SSJ: 11248] Webinar by Daniel Awigra and Mariko Hayashi: "COVID-19, Stigma and Discrimination as Layers of Borders" (Dec. 3, 2020)

From: Institute of Asian Migrations Waseda <waseda-iam@outlook.com>
Date: 2020/11/18

Dear colleagues,

The Institute of Asian Migrations (Waseda University) will be hosting an online seminar on Zoom given by Daniel Awigra and Mariko Hayashi, respectively Project Leader and Research Coordinator of a research project studying the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on migrant workers and their livelihood. The talk will be moderated by Jotaro Kato, Research Associate at the Institute of Asian Migrations and member of the research project.

On December 3rd, Daniel Awigra and Mariko Hayashi will outline the results of their cross-country research spanning over Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan. Civil society and experts took part in this study to explain how immigration policies and the recent COVID-crisis impacted migrant workers. Their findings suggest that the pandemic created additional layers of borders around migrant workers.

Please find more information about this event and how to register here, and do not hesitate to take a look at our other scheduled webinars at https://www.waseda-iam.org/events.

We look forward to seeing you online.

Best regards,
The Institute of Asian Migrations
