As Director of the newly-established CIEE Kyoto Center - the newest amongst 66 CIEE Centers worldwide, I am requesting your kind cooperation in announcing - with some time-sensitive urgency - Job Openings at CIEE Kyoto as described in the following paragraphs.

Faculty Openings for Spring 2020 - Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) Kyoto



The CIEE, established in 1947 and operating in 46 countries, opens its CIEE Kyoto Center in 2020,

as an "Island Program" offering accredited courses in a variety of disciplines to CIEE-affiliated

students. Adjunct faculty meeting CIEE's qualifications are invited to apply for the following six

3-credit hour teaching positions - please note the application deadline is November 25th:



"Analysis of Japanese Popular Culture"
"Japanese Feudal History"
"Modernizing Ancient Japan"
"Religion & Society in Japan"
"Japanese Art History"
"Japanese Literature"



Credentials, Location, Logistics -

CIEE's new Kyoto Center is located a two-minute walk from Karasuma-Oike, the crossing point of

Kyoto's two subway lines in the heart of the city. With in-house classrooms and student housing

nearby, instruction will take place in 90-minute class sessions, in English, for the 15-week Spring

Term (from January 27th through May 9th) - incorporating experiential, educational excursions.

Instructors are required to have a Master's Degree (Ph.D. & two-years' teaching experience preferred).
Syllabi are available for each of the listed courses, have been vetted & accredited, and should be followed in keeping with CIEE's high standards of academic excellence.
Applicants credentialed to teach more than one of the listed courses may be considered for instruction of two courses in Spring 2020.
Compensation for CIEE Adjunct Faculty positions is competitive by standards in Japan.
For applicants located outside of Kyoto, housing arrangements may be made available.

A recent c.v., indicating relevant training & any previous teaching experience.
A brief cover Letter of Interest (& availability) to teach one of the CIEE courses.
