Abstract: A panel of experts with personal connections to Hong Kong will reflect on political developments in Hong Kong, share their perspectives on the forces at play, and discuss the meaning of it all for Japan and the United States. We have three engaging panelists confirmed with more to be announced shortly.



Dr. Stephen Nagy is a Senior Associate Professor in the Department of Politics and International Studies at the International Christian University. Since, December 2017, he has also served as a Distinguished Fellow for the Asia Pacific Foundation (AFP) of Canada. He has published several commentaries on developments in Hong Kong.



Mr. Tom O'Sullivan has more than twenty-years experience working in senior roles in large global organizations in Asia- Pacific where he has specialized in the areas of energy, defense, infrastructure, and finance. He lived in Hong Kong for several years, has family there, and has been making visits to document frontline activities at the protests.



Mr. Leo Lin is Director of Research Affairs and Partnership Activities at YCAPS. He is also an Adjunct Fellow at the Mongoose Report, a private think tank based in Shenzhen and Hong Kong. He visited Hong Kong this July to monitor the current situation of the protests. He spent many years with various partnership-building, development, and research organizations engaged in Asia-pacific. His research specialty is Sino-Japanese relations and holds strong knowledge and insights about the Chinese government.
