The Social Sciences Program (Law) in the Nagoya University Global 30 International Programs invites applications for a full-time, Designated Lecturer, Designated Associate Professor, or Designated Professor position in Political Science/Politics.


We seek a candidate who has shown excellence in research and teaching in Political Science/Politics. The G30 Program is known for its small class sizes, motivated students, and international atmosphere. The standard teaching load is eight courses per year. A course is generally comprised of 15 weekly lectures, each of which runs 90 minutes. The successful candidate will be expected to supervise students, provide them with guidance and pastoral care, and engage in the admissions process. She or he should also contribute to expanding the international research profile of the Division of Politics in the Graduate School of Law.


Qualifications:

1) A doctoral degree in Political Science/Politics or a related field.


2) A demonstrated record of, or a clear path to, research excellence in Political Science/Politics.


3) A proven record of teaching. The post is open to anyone specializing in any subfield of Political Science/Politics. We particularly welcome applicants who can teach courses in Research Methods.


4) A demonstrated ability to supervise students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.


5) Willingness to participate in the International Programs of the university, including but not limited to teaching courses to Japanese students and some administrative duties.


6) Strong interpersonal skills and evidence of success working in a multicultural environment.


7) Japanese language proficiency is welcome though not required.



Term:

The initial contract will start in April 2020 and terminate in March 2023. Contingent upon job performance and funding of the Global 30 International Program, the contract may be renewable for further three-year periods to a maximum potential end date of 31 March 2030.


Compensation:

Salary: Approximately JPY5,000,000-10,000,000/year (all inclusive). Salary will depend on qualifications and experience. Taxes and insurance will be withheld from the annual salary.
