Women and Peace-Making in the Asia Pacific

The Gender Studies faculty of the Graduate School of International Peace Studies and the Faculty of International Liberal Arts of Soka University are pleased to announce our collaboration with the Center for Gender Studies at International Christian University to present a day-long conference on women's thought and activism in peace-making in the Asia-Pacific region. We have invited noted scholars and activists in Japan to share their work and their insights on questions of how we need to think about conflict and conflict-resolution in interpersonal relations, broadening the scope of how we understand conflict, and how we need to think about the crucial links between peace and development. It is our hope that all who participate will come away from the conference with a renewed appreciation for the deep commitment and creativity that many women and women's groups have brought to the work of building a more just and peaceful world.
