[SSJ: 10403] Job opening at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Japan

Ritsumaikan Asia Pacific University (APU) is recruiting for a position in the College of Asia Pacific Studies.


Field: Sociology

Type of employment: Fixed-term tenure-track faculty.

*Depending on the candidate's experience, a tenured faculty position may be offered.

Position: Associate Professor or Assistant Professor

*Position will be determined based on qualifications of the successful candidate.


Main courses to be taught, etc. ※
Able to teach such undergraduate courses as "Multiculturalism and Society", "Ethnicity and the Nation State" and "Social Theory" (Teaching in Japanese or English).
It is more desirable that the applicant is able to teach the subject "Migration and Transnationalism" (in English) at the graduate (Master's) level.
As APU offers a dual education system in Japanese and English, it is more desirable that the applicant is able to teach in both languages.


※You also need to teach other courses that APU needs.



Qualifications:

At a minimum, applicants must meet items below.
1. Ph.D. in a relevant field (or expected to complete one by the time of appointment).
2. Have publications in peer refereed journals (at a level equivalent to or higher than the above specified position).

3. English proficiency to communicate with other faculty members on work-related discussions without difficulties.



Qualities Expected of Candidates:

Candidates must agree with the fundamental principles and goals of APU, and be enthusiastic about education, research and administration at APU.
Candidates who are experts on a specific region of the Asia Pacific will be preferred. Teaching experience in higher education is an advantage.
