Dear friends and colleagues,
You are invited to the new GJS lecture series, from Sep.28-Nov.15, with a focus on introducing the history of knowledge production at the University of Tokyo in the postwar period.
The course is ITASIA139 under the entitle of "'Intellectual Giants' in UTokyo: Critical Evaluation of Their Accomplishments in Contemporary Contexts." More detailed information about the course can be found here: http://catalog.he.u-tokyo.ac.jp/g-detail?code=4971390&year=2018&x=34&y=19
This course is designed to be open to graduate students and the general public. For graduate students who take it for credit, it is a regular course. But it is at the same time an extension of the regular GJS open lecture series, so it is open to the public and everyone is welcome. Furthermore, people do not have to attend all the six lectures. The purpose is to promote both academic study and public interest in the history of scholarship of the University of Tokyo. It is our hope that people with different interests and backgrounds can come together by way of this course to learn about this history and engage in exchange and discussion on it.
The course is scheduled on Thursday from 2:55-4:40 in the first meeting room of the Institute for Advanced Studies on Asia.
