Asiatischen Studien / Études Asiatiques (vol. 73, no. 2)

Translations of Japanese sources and academic literature remain an essential scholarly contribution to Japanese studies. Without such translations, the original works cannot gain traction beyond the narrow field of Japan specialists. In light of the strong response to our previous volume dedicated to translations in 2017, we intend to continue our effort to secure a place for translations of Japanese texts in our journal and call for submissions to the next Japan number of Asiatischen Studien / Études Asiatiques, to be published in spring 2019.

Translated texts from all fields of Japanese studies are welcome. The original texts can be sources in a more narrow sense or scientific/scholarly texts. Each translation should be commented and include an introduction that explains the significance of the text. The upper limit of each contribution (including commentary, footnotes, and list of references cited) is 50'000 characters.

The deadline for sending in contributions to the editors (raji.steineck@aoi.uzh.ch and david.chiavacci@aoi.uzh.ch) is October 1, 2018, but we ask you to kindly announce your contribution beforehand. All contributions will undergo a peer review process before publication.

/Asiatische Studien / Études Asiatiques/is the academic journal of the Swiss Asia Society and has been published since 1947.
