Hakuho Foundation began accepting applications for the 14th Hakuho Japanese Research Fellowship.



• Objective

The Hakuho Foundation Japanese Research Fellowship invites leading international researchers of the Japanese language, Japanese language instruction, Japanese literature and Japanese culture to Japan to conduct residential research.



• Eligible Research

Japanese language, Japanese language education, Japanese literature and Japanese culture research



• Eligible Researchers

Researchers working in the fields of Japanese language, Japanese language education, Japanese literature or Japanese culture who reside outside Japan and meet all of the specified criteria (see Application Guide).



• Support provided

- Return economy class air tickets

- Living and research expenses: 350,000 yen per month

- Housing subsidy: up to150,000 yen per month



• Fellowship Period

Long-term (1 year): September 1, 2019-August 31, 2020

Short-term (6 months): September 1, 2019-February 29, 2020 or March 1- August 31, 2020



• Schedule

Application period: June 8-October 31, 2018

Notification of results: Early April 2019 (tentative)
