Overview:
We are now exactly two years from the Opening Ceremony for the Summer Olympics (July 24, 2020), when the eyes of the world will be fixated on Japan. Join Dr. Nancy Snow, who will give an update on Japan's super nation brand across a number of areas, including global integration, gender equality, diversity and inclusion. How do global media view Japan in contrast to how the country views itself? Snow maintains that many cultural stereotypes persist in the global media, particularly about lifestyle and dating, which will impact Japan's story to the world in 2020 and beyond.
Speaker:
Dr. Snow is Pax Mundi Professor of Public Diplomacy at Kyoto University of Foreign Studies and Professor Emeritus of Communications at California State University, Fullerton. She is the author/editor of eleven books, with two forthcoming (/Routledge Handbook of Public Diplomacy/, 2nd edition; /Sage Handbook of Propaganda/). A two-time Fulbright scholar to Germany and Japan, Snow held an Abe Fellowship and Visiting Research Professorship at Keio University. Her book, /Japan's Information War/, is now being translated into Japanese for publication. She is an Adjunct Fellow at the Institute of Contemporary Asian Studies (ICAS) at Temple University Japan Campus.
