ATHLETES:

Kento Kato (Born in 1985)

Blind Soccer Player

Japan National Team since 2007

A member of the Japan national team since 2007, Kento Kato has participated in major international matches such as the Asian Cup and the World Cup, and is currently Team Captain of the Saitama T. Wings. Kato started playing soccer in the 3rd grade of elementary school, but developed a visual disorder due to genetic diseases in his senior year of high school. He worried at the time that he could "not do anything in the future," so his parents found a blind soccer program for him, and he started playing at age 20. Today, Kato does numerous blind soccer promotional events, including lectures and media appearances, as he wants to tell others about his experiences and to make connections with people through blind soccer.

Yoshinobu Fujimoto (Born in 1976)

Wheelchair Tennis Player

Paralympian, 2008 Beijing Games

Wheelchair Tennis Japan team member Yoshinobu Fujimoto suffered permanent injury while attempting to perfect a gymnastics technique that he had developed, and that had already been named for him, The Fujimoto.

After his accident and paralysis, Fujimoto began competing in wheelchair tennis at age 23. Driven by "an indomitable spirit", he rose like a rocket to the top of the wheelchair tennis world, and has been listed in the top 15 players globally for most of his career. He loves driving, movies, music, fishing and sushi.
