Critical Studies in Education for Transformation draws from key disciplinary areas in sociology, education, anthropology, and social policy. We undertake empirical research on education that explores a wide range of questions, debates and issues on gender, health, sexuality, intimacy, cross-cultural interaction, human rights and multicultural societies.
1.Faculty: Graduate School of Human Sciences/ School of Human Sciences The current position is in the Centre for Collaborative Future Creation with an affiliation to the Department of Kyosei Studies (Critical Studies in Coexistence, Symbiosis, and Conviviality).
2.Position: Associate Professor (/junkyoju/). Initial appointment of 3 years. Contract may be renewed for 2 years based on achievements.
3.Duties and Responsibilities:
i)Teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in both the English and Japanese medium in the field of Critical Studies in Education for Transformation, as required, and offering two courses for the Human Sciences International Undergraduate Program in English.
ii)Supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.
iii)Carrying out research to an international standard in the successful candidate's specialist field; and
iv)Carrying out administrative responsibilities usual to a faculty member in the School and Graduate School of Human Sciences including attending Faculty Senate meetings and serving on committees and working groups.
4.Expected Qualifications:
(1)_PhD_in hand in one area of the Human Sciences relevant to the field of Critical Studies in Education for Transformation.
(2)An_outstanding record in teaching and research_.
(3)Native-level or near-native level fluency in _both English and Japanese_.
5.*Starting date:*
Between September 16, 2018 and March, 31^st 2019; the earlier the better.

(6)A statement of 3000 characters or less_in Japanese _describing your teaching and research experience to date.
(7)A statement of 1,000 words or less i_n English_ describing your current and future research aspirations.
(8)Certificate or transcript of highest degree obtained. If a copy, you will be asked to show the original certificate or transcript at the interview or prior to the contract being signed
*7.**Selection process:*
Following documentary screening, short-listed candidates will be interviewed either face-to face or via an IT interface in early June. The interview process will involve teaching a mock class if face-to-face to the Selection Committee If the interview is by an IT interface, then we require the applicant submit in advance a recording of that shows their teaching skills and style. Please note that we are unable to reimburse travel expenses.

Salary and benefits will be determined on the basis of Rules Pertaining to Salary for National University Corporation Osaka University Limited Term Staff.
