[SSJ: 9582] November 16 Free Lecture at Lakeland University Japan: Yusuke Matsuda of Teach for Japan

Yusuke Matsuda, Founder and Chairman of Teach For Japan


This lecture (in English) will be held Wednesday, November 16th at 7:00 PM at Lakeland University in
Shinjuku.


Teach For Japan's mission is to recruit, encourage and prepare talented andambitious graduates and
young professionals to become effective andinspiring teachers and leaders in order to facilitate the
access to qualityeducation for every child in Japan. By sharing their knowledge andresources
regarding teacher selection, training, and support to Boards ofEducation and schools, TFJ aims to
raise the academic achievement level ofthe entire community. In this lecture, Yusuke Matsuda will
talk about hisown journey and will introduce Teach For Japan.

Yusuke Matsuda has worked as a Physical Education teacher at a privatemiddle/high school in Tokyo,
an education policy analyst at ChibaPrefecture’s Board of Education, and as a human resources
consultant atPricewaterhouse Coopers Japan. He is a member of World Economic ForumGlobal Shapers
Community and is also a Research Associate Professor atKyoto University. He holds an M.Ed degree
from Harvard University’sGraduate School of Education and a B.A. degree from Nihon University’
sDepartment of Humanities. He was named one of the 100 most influentialpeople in Japan (Nikkei
Business, 2014).
