From: Yoneyuki SUGITA
Date: 2013/06/17

Dear Colleagues:

Professor Masamichi (Marro) Inoue, Director of Japan Studies Program at the University of Kentucky, will be speaking at Tokyo American Center Hall on 24 June in Japanese.

Title: Comparative Cultural Dialogue: Teaching "Japan"
in America and Teaching "America" in Japan

(Abstract)
Leading professionals take a comparative cultural approach to analyzing difficulties and the pleasure in teaching "Japan" in America and teaching "America" in Japan. Then, in the hope of seeking solutions to these difficulties and enhancing the pleasure, they will have open and frank discussions. Dr. Masamichi (Marro) Inoue has been learning, teaching, and pondering about Japan for over 10 years in U.S. universities, while the moderators have been learning, teaching, and pondering about America for a long time in Japan. Both Dr. Inoue and the moderators discuss these topics based on their own experiences. We will make sure that the audience joins in the discussion. (In addition, we plan to broadcast the session live over the Internet and make the best use of SNS such as Twitter and Facebook to welcome an audience in Japan and all over the world to join the discussion by contributing messages.)
