"This is Lean: Resolving the Efficiency Paradox"

Professor Pär Åhlström
Professor of Business Administration, Operations Management Stockholm School of Economics Tuesday, February 26, 2013 The Alfred Nobel Auditorium Embassy of Sweden

About the talk: Professor Pär Åhlström's presentation will be based on a book "This is Lean - Resolving the EfficiencyParadox" which he and Niklas Modig recently published.
Lean strategy which is actually resolving efficiency paradox in Sweden. Pär considers processes in terms of resource and flow efficiency. He argues that most organisations focus on resource efficiency and so are capicity-led rather than focusing on flow efficiency so becoming demand-led. Demand-led organisations can focus on flow through understanding and defining customers'
value and need - where need is relevant when it is difficult for the customer to define value. Pär says that organisations should aim to achieve highly on both resource and flow efficiency.
In the presentation, we will hear the cases of lean management, its laws and theories and how to create and develope lean organizations. Don't miss the excellent opportunity to hear first class research and explanation of lean management.
About the speaker: Professor Åhlström holds the Torsten and Ragnar Söderberg chair in Business Administration at the Stockholm School of Economics, where he is also Dean of Degree Programs.
He previously held positions at Chalmers University of Technology and London Business School. With twenty years of experience researching lean, he is one of the pioneers in the field.
